his student. he let her turn in assignments late
due to a ’ special situation. ’ many students called
it bias, but it was only gus’s extent of him showing
compassion to kate. he knew she was going through
a lot. the least he could do was ease her deadlines.

        she nods, her lips pulling into a minuscule

          smile, she appreciated his patience with the

          girl, despite the advanced courses she was 

          taking, though, she wishes not to disappoint

          him. she doesn’t make eye-contact when she

          talks, partially because it was a tough angle

          to tilt her head, wholly because of her bash-

          fullness.
