         he notices, something she SHOULD BE HAPPY ABOUT.

            why isn’t she happy ??

            it’s always small smiles, half-lidded eyes, &&. a HUNGRY

            gaze. they’ve watched her performance many times, it’s 

            downloaded on their phones, bookmarked. 

            the woman doesn’t turn, but adjusts her gaze. a lone student,

            seemingly ignoring the prescott’s presence. she can FEEL

            his eyes on her. he wants to do impure things, he wants to 

            steal her. 

            &&. AT THAT MOMENT, she wants to cry. she realizes 

            what she’s feeling. how SCARED she is, how depressed. 

            all it took, was for someone to NOTICE.

            her eyes dart back, he’s still staring. 

            palms start to sweat, wrists begin to tremble.

           she imagines the HANDS. unwanted touches, pulling at her

           skirt, travelling up her thigh—–

           her voice is meek &&. quiet, there’s a tone of desperation, 

           no one’s ever seen her like this.

           she can hear the laughs.
